Superimposed Realities
QUANTUM SELVES
In the quantum realm, reality reveals itself as bizarre. Objects can be in a superposition of several states which is collapsed to a pure state by observation. Entanglement happens within the artist's subconscious in the process of drawing: the image upon which they draw necessarily affects the upper layer. If we know where a quantum object is, we do not know how fast it is moving, and other details may be obscure. A theory of quantum gravity remains to be verified, but somehow the fabric of the background space-time must have an interaction with the object within it. We encourage the observer to collapse the quantum state of the human form, but observers beware: the process remains mysterious.
EXHIBITIONS
Quantum Selves, Souls in Sleeves, Ponder This
My work was featured with that of Arabella Schelpe and Golnar Malek, both exploring similar themes from different directions.
April 18-29, 2018
This trilogy explores time and spaces within the human body in the bizarre quantum realm, the realm of Qigong, and what appears to be a reality of its own. These drawings invite the viewer to wander between these three realms in a never-ending search for truth.

GALLERY
Ben spends his days performing calculations in quantum field theory, working out the properties of exotic new particles and forces that might be found at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. He spends his evenings performing different quantum explorations with charcoal and paint. This duality, this superposition of different states, mimics the reality of the systems he studies.
These are all original and unique works. Pieces with prices (hover over the image) are for sale, already glazed and framed. Prices include postage and packaging: email benjamin.allanach@gmail.com for cost.
